Method and sources
Harvard DARMC supplies detailed province geometry for ca. AD 117, AD 303–324, and ca. AD 500. Earlier stages use those coast-aligned units as scaffolding; hatching distinguishes active conquest, incomplete settlement, or frontiers whose precision is disputed. Named roads are generalized from Itiner-e and DARMC and appear only after their approximate construction or incorporation into the Roman network. Ancient place names follow Pleiades conventions. Land and modern country lines use Natural Earth’s 1:10m layers.
